Dana Stevens is 21 years old and has spent most of her life on the East Coast. During her last two high school years at High Mowing, a private school in southern New Hampshire she was introduced to indigenous living skills and wilderness awareness through the Naturalist Program taught by Keith Badger. When she graduated she looked for a school where she could pursue her interest in these things. After a year off from school, working on an organic farm and building an apartment in Maine, Dana found the Individualized B.A. program at Goddard College which allowed her to design her own curriculum and major. She has since been working towards her degree, studying education, earth skills, and environmental studies. Dana is participating in the Wilderness Awareness Residential program as part of her college studies and is thrilled to be in such a fantastic community centered around the natural world and all it has to offer.
Filip Tkaczyk, is a Residential Program student at Wilderness Awareness School. He graduated the University of Washington Summer of 2006 with a B.S. in Wildlife Science. During his final year at the University, he studied the nutria around the Union Bay area of Seattle. Prior to that, he trapped bats on the Olympic peninsula working for the National Park Service. He is elated to be a current student and future part of the Wilderness Awareness School community. Outside of school, he can be found tracking, taking photos and exploring the wilds of Washington state with his partner Jen.
